Welcome to the GCN

The Gaming Club Network is an independent organisation whose aim is to help hobbyists set up and run great gaming clubs. It started life as a group of clubs who formed a network so they could support one another and promote gaming. Since then, it has grown from a handful of clubs in close proximity to a large number spread across the whole country.

Each year at their Annual General Meeting, the member clubs of the GCN elects the Council Members. The Council have many functions, from helping clubs enter the GCN to organizing events.

So, who is the GCN Council, and what do they do? These are the people you need to know if you run or are part of a gaming club.

President - Richard Kerry

I am responsible for the organisation overall. Amongst other things I chair council meetings and organise our volunteers. I also do the final editor/layout bit on the GCN's Newsletter and most of our documents.

I have been a wargamer for over twenty years and I am one of the founding members of the Sad Muppet Society (www.sadmuppets.org) in Basingstoke. Although I've played lots of different systems over the years, my favourite is Warhammer 40000 and I am just about to start building my second Eldar army.

I have been a gamer for too many years to record and having been inspired by H G Wells "Little Wars" book have spent many hours with small soldiers. I also am on the committee of two local clubs, despite this I do get some time to play games, most of which I manage to lose!

My role is to call, organise and minute all meetings. Since taking on this role my primary aim has been to contact all the member clubs to obtain up to date contact details.

I am a member of The Chelmsford Bunker, based in Essex. I have been a wargamer for almost forty years, having never thrown any of my childhood toy soldiers away, I have an extremely patient wife who allows me to indulge my habit! My long term project is a 40K army of Praetorian Guard, which I hope to have ready to game with next year.

Events Officer - Scott Miskin

For me, events are the cornerstone of the hobby. Many people play regularly against their friends, but there's something special about heading off, ticket in hand, playing a few games and getting the most out of the hobby. This is my aim - to ensure gamers get the best from their hobby.

The GCN has grand plans for events over the next few years, planning new events, being involved with Games Day, Expos and Conventions - it's an exciting time to be a part of a GCN club. Don't miss out!

Treasurer - Steve Nolan

I am responsible for managing the finances of the GCN and making sure all the numbers add up! If you need any help with managing club accounts or associated paperwork then please contact me.

An interest in fantasy and a friend with HeroQuest conspired to introduce me to the hobby. Gripping as admin may be, miniature gaming remains the focus of my interest. Being a member of two GCN clubs I am fortunate in being able to indulge my passion for gaming twice a week.
